Everyone has those days. You wake up already feeling exhausted, and the thought of getting out of bed to start your day fills you with dread.

From there, every single thing you do feels like a struggle.

On days like that, it can get really hard to feel like you will ever be happy again. Getting anything done would be a miracle!

Today I want to tell you about the podcasts I like to listen to on days like this to help motivate me and give me a mindset change.

It doesn’t always work (because mental health doesn’t have some one-size-fits-all solution) but it does always lighten my mood at least a little bit. Oftentimes, it even gives me a piece of wisdom to hold on to throughout the day that helps me cope.

So if YOU want some motivational podcasts to help pick you up when you’re feeling down, these are my personal favourites I’d recommend!

11 Motivational Podcasts to Help you Get Your Mindset Back on Track

"11 motivational podcasts to encourage you on difficult days"

The motivational podcasts I’m going to list here all serve a different purpose. I will be sharing each one under specific categories: lifestyle, Christian living, female empowerment, understanding self, and humour.

Motivational Lifestyle Podcasts

The following motivational podcasts are all about general lifestyle and healthy living. They are good for anyone, regardless of age, gender, or personal beliefs. You can listen to these whenever you want a personal cheerleader to help you through general life struggles.

Podcast #1: 48 Days to the Work You Love

This is a podcast spin-off of the bestselling book 48 Days to the Work You Love. The book is written by a man named Dan Miller. In it, he writes about the importance of loving the work you do and the life you live.

His podcast is an extension of that. He opens up every podcast with an uplifting story and then goes about answering questions from people who follow his podcast.

No matter what he is talking about that day, you will always feel motivated to live a life that you are passionate about.

He has a way of speaking that makes you want to chase after your dreams without fear of failure.

The episode length for his podcast averages about 40 minutes, so if time permits, it is a great one to listen to if you just need a little push to give your best effort that day.

Podcast #2: The Minimalists Podcast

Exactly as the name states, these guys talk all about the minimalist lifestyle.

Their story is an interesting one. Both of the speakers originally had a high-paying corporate job with nice houses and lots of stuff, but they found difficulty feeling good on a daily basis. They decided to leave behind this style of life and opt for simpler pleasures. They started a blog and a podcast all about how to live a minimalist lifestyle, and they never looked back.

Even if you are not interested in pursuing minimalism, I would highly recommend this podcast.

They don’t just talk about stuff. Usually, they talk about ways that you can cultivate a life filled with things you love beyond just the stuff. They talk about healthy relationships, finding work and hobbies you are passionate about, and how to live in a way that feels valuable to you.

Their podcast has a very conversational feel to it. One of the hosts is an INFJ, so I’m inclined to enjoy what he has to say, but the other host offers a unique perspective that really adds to the show.

Typically, their show lasts about 40 minutes. If that’s too much for you, they also have “Quickie” episodes that are between 5-10 minutes that are also enjoyable!

Motivational Christian Living Podcasts

As this category states, these podcasts offer motivation from a Christian perspective. I find these ones especially helpful when I lose track of God’s role in my life (which -I won’t hesitate to admit- happens often). Each of these podcasts offers a unique perspective that really helps to set your mind on the important things in life.

Podcast #3: Morning Mindset Christian Daily Devotionals

Okay, this podcast is uniquely different from the others. It is a podcast from a retired pastor who wanted to find a way to keep encouraging people in their walk with Christ.

Every day, he has a new devotional that is quick and to-the-point.

He leaves you with challenges and things to think about all day. He speaks with clarity and offers a lot of comfort. His intention was to provide a devotional that you could listen to right away every morning.

His devotionals really help to establish a positive mindset in the morning. Every devotional is deeply founded in scripture.

Another unique thing about his podcast is that each episode is exactly seven minutes long, so if you’re too busy for the longer podcasts, this is a perfect alternative!

Podcast #4: The Joncast

Oh man, I can’t wait to share this podcast with you! I love YouTube, and I have been following the host for this podcast (Jon Jorgenson) for some time now. He is a speaker, poet, author, YouTuber, and now podcaster.

His podcast is just an audio version of his YouTube channel, but a little less animated and more like a conversation.

I absolutely LOVE the way he speaks! He is not afraid to share his own failings and weaknesses, and it makes him so much more enjoyable to listen to.

This host is deeply passionate about Christian living, and he knows A LOT about theology.

His podcasts lately have had a quick message of encouragement followed by a prayer exercise you can follow along with. That being said, he changes things up often, so if consistency is your thing, then this podcast might not be for you. But if you want spiritual guidance from someone you can relate to, this is your guy!

The Joncast ranges in length from 15-30 minutes, so they’re easy to fit into your day.

Podcast #5: Confessions of a Crappy Christian

I’m automatically sold on anyone who describes themselves as a crappy Christian. To me, this is the best person to be listening to, because they already established that they know nobody’s perfect. It’s nice to hear from somebody who is open to talking about her own personal struggles.

The host, Blake Guichet, is a fun-loving, personable woman who is all about connecting with other people and encouraging us to share our weaknesses.

Sometimes, she just talks on her own, but usually, she has a conversation with someone else who has something inspiring to share. The conversation is always super low-key and friendly, and you are guaranteed to finish the episode feeling better about your own flaws.

I love this podcast for moments where I just don’t feel good enough.

This podcast is usually around 30 minutes, but it can also go up to an hour, depending on how the conversation goes.

Motivational Podcasts about Female Empowerment

The following podcasts are exclusively for females. They speak about problems that, typically, only women face. There is no Christian perspective, but they are great motivational podcasts for times when you lack self-confidence as a female.

Podcast #6: Confidently She

I love this podcast because I feel that it speaks about something that is just so hard to cope with in the present day and age. The world has become an increasingly complicated place, and females as a whole have a bunch of unique problems they have to face. All of these problems- and I mean ALL OF THEM- are covered on Rebekah Buege’s podcast.

This lovely host is a body confidence coach, a writer, and a speaker.

She is full of good advice on how to live your life with healthy boundaries and with confidence.

Who doesn’t want that?!

I really like that she encourages women to feel confident in who they are and aware of the boundaries they need to maintain in order to care for their mental health. She occasionally has guests on her show, but it is mostly led by her.

Confidently She is usually around 30 minutes long, but there are episodes that are very short, as well. If you are pressed for time, this show is still an option.

Podcast #7: SHE with Jordan Lee Dooley

Similar to Rebekah Buege, Jordan is really into encouraging women to be confident in who they are as individuals. The difference that I find between these two podcasts is that this one has a more ‘boss lady’ vibe to her.

Rather than stopping at feeling good about who you are, she takes the next step and encourages you to take action.

This motivational podcast has lots of episodes about pursuing your passion and making things happen as a woman.

She covers subjects related to business, mental health, body image, and motherhood. You are bound to find something there that speaks to you. She often has visitors on her show, but she sometimes does a show on her own, too.

SHE ranges anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, so you will need more time on your hands to listen in, but it’s definitely worth it!

Podcasts for Understanding Self

Okay, this might seem like a bit of a weird flex, but hear me out. When you are feeling less-than-stellar, it often helps to understand what the problem is. In order to understand the solution to an issue, we first need to understand the issue itself.

See what I’m getting at?

If you want to help yourself feel better, it helps to understand what exactly is going on in your brain.

These next motivational podcasts are really useful in teaching us something about human nature. In the process, we might be able to understand ourselves a little better!

Podcast #8: Savvy Psychologist

I love this podcast because it doesn’t just give you a boring lecture on psychology.

Instead, this podcast focuses on how to actually use what we’ve learned about human psychology to improve your mental health.

The host, Jade Wu, is a trained psychologist and mental health expert. She has 300+ episodes already up, so you can guarantee that whatever you’re dealing with has been spoken about on her show. The titles are very clear about what she will be covering in that episode, too, so if you’re looking for something specific, it shouldn’t be hard to find.

Her show is great for people who don’t really get psychology. She speaks in relatable terms so that you don’t need any background knowledge to get what she’s saying.

Savvy Psychologist pretty consistently lasts 20 minutes, so it is easy to engage with it even when you are in a hurry.

Podcast #9: The INFJ Whisperer

This podcast is not going to be for everyone (though there probably is a lot of helpful information for all types of people in the show).

This podcast is very close to my heart on principle. As an INFJ, I often struggle with feeling like there is something wrong with me. I don’t understand why my emotions function the way they do, and I can’t seem to connect with others as easily as I see others connect.

But this is a common trait in an INFJ. When I am feeling especially troubled, it helps to hear from other INFJs about their experiences and what they understand about themselves.

This podcast is all about reminding fellow INFJs that they’re not alone and that what they are feeling is normal (at least for this MBTI type).

That being said, there is a lot of self-help in this show that is applicable to all personality types, so if you are not an INFJ, it is still a good option for motivation. I’m just saying that it will add a little extra comfort if you are this MBTI type.

This motivational podcast is typically 12 minutes long, so it’s very manageable for a busy schedule.

Podcast #10: INFJ Life Coach

This is another podcast that caters specifically to INFJ personality types but it has helpful information for every personality type in all of the episodes.

This is a great podcast for anyone looking to take action towards personal growth and achieving life goals.

The host, Wenzes, is a life coach who aims to give you some insight into your own mind so that you understand yourself a little better.

But she doesn’t stop there.

Instead of just explaining the way you are, she gives actionable advice to help you grow as a person so that you can live a more authentic and fulfilling life on your terms.

Her advice is more applicable to INFJs but can be used by anyone.

Most of her content is about 20 minutes long, so this is another podcast that is great for a busier schedule.

Humourous Motivational Podcasts

The last category is simply one that encourages laughter. There are tons of comedy podcasts out there, but I am recommending just ONE today. It has a unique feature that does more than just make us laugh.

Podcast #11: Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids

Exactly as the title states, this podcast is full of stories adults found from their childhood. Sometimes poetry, sometimes journals, and sometimes short stories or letters, these pieces of writing never fail to entertain!

But on top of being funny, I felt this podcast needed mentioning for a whole other reason. Often in this show, there will be journal articles about things that happened to people as kids.

The diary entries are always so dramatic, but as adults, we can see that everything turned out just fine. The thing that felt like such a big deal at the moment became no problem at all in the end.

I find this podcast really helpful in readjusting my own mindset.

I can be reminded that whatever it is I am feeling right now will eventually be no big deal later on.

On average, this show is 30 minutes long, so it’s easy to fit in any time!
