For most of my life, I have been praying without recording anything.
I usually preferred to simply start talking and see where that took me.
But a few months ago, I started recording some of my prayers. I would write my own prayers in cursive writing and write what God was saying to me in print.
I don’t think this is necessarily the better way to approach prayer. However, I do think that it helped me to engage in prayer in a way I never had before. By having my prayers written down and by recording what messages I was hearing from God, I was able to look back on those prayers and be guided by them in times of need.
After keeping up this habit for a few weeks, I realized that it wasn’t altogether reasonable to keep all of my prayers.
It’s not like I was going to go back and read every single one whenever I need guidance.
So instead, I decided to create a prayer summary at the end of the month. This summary took all of my more detailed prayers and turned them into a one-page summary of that month.
This allowed me to keep the most important information and get rid of the papers I had been collecting over the course of that month.
