<<< The future log is one of the most important features in your bullet journal, but it is often the most difficult to make and use. It can be hard to write down all of the necessary dates and to remember to refer to them throughout the year. If you struggle with the future log in your own bullet journal, then this post will be able to help. You will find a suggested future log bullet journal layout, as well as a list of monthly holidays to remember and record. >>>
I have always struggled to use the future log in my own bullet journals.
Seriously. My past future logs have been so pathetic.
Basically, they were pages full of numbers and days of the month with nothing filled in. I always went through the motions of making a future log without actually using it afterward. It was therapeutic to make the bullet journal layout, but ultimately it was a waste of time.
The biggest reason that my future logs were such a failure every year was simply that I was too overwhelmed. When it was finally time to put in the dates and holidays to remember, I didn’t know where to start. It was just too much for me to handle, so I would go through the entire year without ever revisiting this page.
But this year was different.
I decided to sit down and take a good look at each month, deciding what I wanted to celebrate and be aware of this year.
And I figured if I was having so much trouble with it, maybe other people were, too.
So here I am, sharing some worthwhile dates and holidays to remember. It is by no means a complete list. I’m definitely missing things that I’m sure I’ll want to add later. But this is at least a good place to start.
Because this is just a starting place, make sure you write in the comments below about any holidays I am missing! I plan to be editing this one each year so that it can get better and better as time goes on.

My Philosophy on Future Logs
I believe that a good life involves the joy of simple pleasures. This includes celebrating holidays and small events. When you make an effort to be aware of some of the fun holidays and celebrations, every day can feel special, even when you are not doing big activities. I think that future logs are a good way for us to be aware of the need to celebrate life in any way we can.
It is also important for planning ahead. When used well, it can keep you from missing birthdays and anniversaries, and it can help you feel calmer about your year. Future logs are so helpful when it comes to making your year better, and filling it out as soon as you can is a good way to make sure that you are making the most of it!
What’s not included in this future log
Sorry readers, but I didn’t include all the birthdays and personal special events of your own lives. You’ll have to check for those things yourself. I also didn’t include dates for full moons and new moons, as those dates change every year.
If you want ideas on other things that are good to record in your future log, check out this list:
- New moons and full moons
- Anniversaries
- Birthdays
- School events
- Special weekend trips
- Family traditions
- Silly/small celebrations
